What information we collect

We collect the information you give us when you book a tour or contact us, such as your name, email address, phone number and details of your booking. When you book a tour, the booking and the payment are handled by the booking system Bókun; we do not store your payment card details. We also collect technical information about visits to the website through privacy-friendly web analytics (see “Cookies and third-party services” below).

For what purposes

We use the information to process and confirm bookings, to provide you with our services and answer enquiries, and to meet legal obligations (e.g. the Bookkeeping Act).

We share information with service providers that help us run our business, in particular the booking system Bókun, which handles bookings and payment processing. Such providers process information under contract and solely on our behalf. We also use Simple Analytics for web analytics (see below) — this service receives no personally identifiable information about you. We share information with public authorities when we are legally required to do so.

Retention

We keep personal data for as long as is necessary for the purposes of the processing and to meet legal obligations, e.g. the retention of accounting records.

Your rights

You have the right to access the information about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict processing, to object to processing and to data portability. To exercise your rights, contact info@buggyadventures.is. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (Persónuvernd, personuvernd.is).

Cookies and third-party services

Web analytics (Simple Analytics): We use Simple Analytics to understand general traffic on the website (e.g. the number of visits and popular pages). This service uses no cookies, collects no IP addresses or other personally identifiable data and respects your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting. We therefore do not ask for separate consent for this analytics.
Booking calendar (Bókun): The booking calendar on our tour pages is provided by Bókun, which processes your booking and payment on our behalf. When you use the booking calendar, Bókun may set cookies that are necessary for the booking process to work (e.g. to remember your choices in the calendar and basket).
Videos (YouTube): Videos are embedded through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and are only loaded when you click play. Until then, no data is sent to YouTube. Once you start a video, YouTube’s privacy policy applies.
Facebook Messenger: The “Ask a question” links open Facebook Messenger. This takes you away from our website, and Meta’s privacy policy applies to your conversation there.

Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. Please note, however, that no transmission of data over the internet is completely secure.

Changes

We reserve the right to update this policy. The updated version is published on the website.
